If you want to fulfill your tiny house dream by building a home with your own hands, then you’re going to need a great plan. When you’re possibly creating a whole house that’s the size of a typical bedroom, you don’t have much wiggle room for wasted space. Think you can live in a tiny house, that small? If so, you’re going to need the most efficient floor plan that makes the best possible use of the small footprint in these tiny structures.
Not only that, but if you’re going to build your tiny house, you’ll need plans that you can follow to create a home that meets your expectations. Where can you find the best tiny house plans online? These three sites have the plans to help you realize your tiny house dream…
Tumbleweed Houses
Since mounting their first tiny house on a trailer 15 years ago, the designers, builders, workshop leaders, and support team at Tumbleweed Tiny House Company have been dedicated to the tiny house movement. Making it fun, easy, and affordable for their customers to purchase and build their own tiny homes, is really what keeps them inspired to help people achieve their dreams.
With detailed plans that range from 117 to 161 square feet, all of Tumbleweed’s plans are compact and meant to be built on trailers so that they can easily be towed wherever you want to go. On Tumbleweed’s site, you can purchase full build-it-yourself plans for any of their tiny houses and they even have payment plans if you can’t afford to pay it all at once.
In addition to full plans, Tumbleweed also has other very reasonably priced resources, and you can even sign up for a tiny house building workshop to get some one-on-one help from an expert tiny house builder.
Four Lights Houses
Four Lights has wonderfully designed tiny house plans from 98 to 288 square feet. Founder Jay Schafer has been designing and living in tiny houses for 18 years and is thoroughly committed to keeping the tiny house movement alive and well.
All of the plans available from Four Lights can be mounted on wheels and meet all ANSI requirements to be classified as RVs, if mounted by a licensed RV manufacturer. For those concerned with insurance and travel, that’s a real bonus.
Additionally, you can customize the interior plans for the tiny houses that Four Lights sells, to fit your personal needs. They also offer some really ingenious a-la-carte interior components and furnishings that are specifically designed for tiny house spaces.
Humble Homes
At Humble Homes, you can purchase either framing plans or full plans for tiny houses. If you purchase only the framing plans, you can design your own interior plans. However, unlike the customizable options from Four Lights, you’d be on your own with your designs, rather than choosing from design options to make the most efficient use of the livable space.
The plans for the houses from Humble Homes are less expensive than either Tumbleweed or Four Lights, but they are also less detailed, and you don’t get as many design options as you do from either of the other two. Though, with Tumbleweed, you can choose from a number of alternate interior designs with each plan. Likewise, Four Lights offers that great a-la-carte option to help you maximize the features you need and leave off anything you don’t.
Whatever your tiny house dreams are, one of these sites is sure to have a tiny house plan that will satisfy your expectations. Take a look at their plans and get started on the road to a smaller, simpler, tiny house life.
