Electric-assist bicycles, or e-bikes, have been on the market for quite some time, but they’ve failed to create a transportation revolution or really any significant change in the way people commute to work, school, and other places for their daily tasks and activities. Sure, they help you save gas and commuting costs, but why have e-bikes been such a flop? Well, for one thing, they’re expensive, and for another they’re heavy and are only produced in limited designs by a limited number of manufacturers. That’s about to change with the introduction of the Copenhagen Wheel.
This new innovation in e-bike cycling is a real game-changer. It’s light, attractive, and it lets you retrofit your ordinary bicycle, turning it into an e-bike, just by changing the rear wheel. It also recharges as you ride, and, with the help of the Superpedestrian app, it’s smart, too.
Easy On
The first benefit you’ll notice with the Copenhagen Wheel is the ease with which you can install it. It’s wireless, so you don’t need an electrician’s license to put it on your bike and get it to work for you. You just have to take your old wheel off and replace it with the Copenhagen Wheel. It’s really as easy as that.
It Learns from You
As you ride, the Copenhagen Wheel uses a number of sensors to monitor the power you’re applying to the pedals. When you put more pressure on the pedals, as in the case of going up hill, the Copenhagen Wheel kicks in and increases the power on the wheel by up to 300%. You can actually set how much assistance you want by changing the settings in the mobile app.
Can you coast uphill? No. Can you make it up any hill without breaking a serious sweat? Yes!
Recharge While You’re On the Go
When you brake, coast, or go downhill, the Copenhagen Wheel actually uses that energy to recharge its battery pack. So, when you’re not using the electric assist, you’re actually recharging the batteries as you ride, which will keep you from running out of juice on that last big hill on your way home.
App makes you a Superpedestrian
The Superpedestrian app for iOS and Android has a number of handy features, as well. You can use it to lock and unlock your wheel to prevent theft, customize rides, track your rides and usage, and keep track of fitness figures, including calories burned and time spent on the bike. And it’s social, too. You can save and share all of your Superpedestrian app info with your friends.
How It Can Change Transportation
A lot of people would love to ride their bikes to and from work, school, and/or the grocery store. However, running errands when you’re sweaty and out of breath isn’t a terribly attractive notion for most folks. Even with showers available at work, sometimes the distance is just a little too far to make it possible.
Think about how much easier and faster your commute would be if you cut out the effort you expend, by getting some assistance from your electric bike. That’s exactly what the Copenhagen Wheel does for you. Suddenly, with this brilliant innovation, your commute just got a lot shorter and a lot easier. And, with the app, you can increase the power assist for the ride to work to save effort and stay fresh, and reduce it for the ride home to give you more of a workout.
The Copenhagen Wheel is a truly innovative piece of technology. Allowing any bike to easily be converted to an electric bike, could change the face of transportation in cities around the world, making it easier and more fun to travel in an eco-friendly and healthy way. What do you think?
