However, the gas savings of newer cars with their high MPGs could offset a car payment or ongoing maintenance costs of an older vehicle.

While everyone likes the idea of being able to get away on a nice vacation, sometimes you may want to consider staying local. Instead of driving far away, take a “staycation” instead. Whenever possible, buy local products. Stay in a local hotel to get away from home instead of traveling a long distance. The savings can really add up quickly and still make it possible for you to have a good time.
