It is nothing new to find a multi-use product that provides us with two functions, in just one smartly designed device. We have televisions that have DVD players in them, alarm clocks with radios, and now we even have LED lights and bulbs that have built-in speakers. What an interesting way to put music in every room of your home and even take it outside with you! If you can screw in a lightbulb, you can literally bring music to your ears – anywhere.
Some of these products offer additional features that make them even more useful. Many of us already have smartphones, so the leap to smart lights is easy. We’ve reviewed three of the most popular LED Speaker Lights. These products have the potential to change the way you listen to music, forever. We’ll take a look at the key features, advantages, and potential shortcomings, so you’ll know if they’re worth your time and money…
Texsens LED Light Bulb with Integrated Bluetooth Speaker
Texsens LED Speaker Bulb
The Texsens Speaker Bulb is a 6 watt LED which is equivalent to a 50-watt regular bulb. It is multicolored and you can adjust the light and the music with a remote control. The integrated Bluetooth speaker allows for connectivity to a Bluetooth device, like your smartphone. In order to withstand being used as a speaker, it is both shock and vibration resistant. It comes with the remote control (and the necessary button cell battery) which can be used to control multiple bulbs for light, but each bulb can be controlled by your Bluetooth device to adjust speaker output.
As is the case with all LED lights, Texsens LED bulb uses very little energy and doesn’t produce much heat. These features making it an energy saving and environmentally sound product. It is rated to last for 50,000 hours of use. The radio range is 10m (33 feet). You will need a Bluetooth 3.0 smart device to connect and operate the speaker. The sound is better than you might expect from such a small speaker. A plus of this product is that it’s relatively inexpensive. The only shortcoming is that it is pretty large to accommodate the speaker so it may not fit in all lamps. It is, however, ideal for recessed lights and doing so provides for improved sound.
Sengled Solo Dimmable LED Light Bulb with Built-In Bluetooth Dual Channel JBL Speakers
Sengled was one of the first to come out with an energy-efficient LED bulb with integrated stereo speakers. With it you can stream music or sound from an iOS or Android device using any app, including YouTube, Pandora, and Spotify. The best feature of the Sengled Solo is that it has dual feature JBL speakers so you get the left/right stereo effect and a trusted brand name. In addition, it is also a dimmable bulb. Another plus is that you can use the Sengled Pulse mobile app to control the light, the volume, and even the audio equalizer. This is a great idea as it avoids the need for a separate remote control that could become lost or damaged.
Sengled Solo Smart LED Bulb and Speaker
One downside of the Sengled Solo is that the light output is a little bit lower than some other options. The illumination is 550 lumens which is equivalent to a 40-watt regular bulb. Also, although the stereo sound feature is pretty cool, the quality of the sound is not outstanding. Additionally, this product is a bit more expensive than some other products offered, but that is to be expected with a name brand speaker component. It also operates solo so you cannot control more than one bulb at a time.
Fuleadture All-in-1 Portable Wireless Speakers with LED Table Lamp, Alarm Clock, and Speakerphone
If you want to have even more features, you’ll want to take a look at the Fuleadture All-in-1 LED Speaker. Not only do you have a nice light and a Bluetooth speaker, but also an alarm clock, hands-free speakerphone, and it supports TF card and USB music playing along with Bluetooth pairing. It is a portable unit powered by a built-in rechargeable polymer lithium battery that takes just two to four hours to charge. You will enjoy from 7 to 15 hours of use from each charge, depending on which features you are accessing.
The clock provides a nice time display as well as a 24h alarm clock and sleep mode. This makes it a great option as a night light for kids as it shuts off after they’ve fallen asleep yet the touch LED lamp can be illuminated easily should it be needed during the night. Add to that the ability to play a relaxing lullaby and you have a real helper for mom and dad. Fuleadture Bluetooth LED All-in-1
This Fuleadture All-in-1 is not an inexpensive unit compared to some bulb type speaker LED lights. But, with all the features involved it is certainly justified. The portability and speakerphone alone make it exceptional. About the only thing you may not like about this unit is that time is displayed in 24h military time and doesn’t have a way to change to 12h time. Unless you are up for teaching this form of time to your child (and that is certainly not a bad idea!), this might be a deal-breaker.
You can’t really go wrong with any of these products for their multi-function light and speaker capabilities. The question only becomes what other features you might want and if you are willing to pay a bit extra to get them. For us, we like the Texsens Speaker Bulb the best for it’s value, light quality and surprisingly good speaker sound.
